Glenville, W.Va. – Quickly bouncing back, Glenville State Softball picked up a 3-1 victory over Carlow University with strong pitching performances from three GSC pitchers.
Celina Maberto earned the win on the mound for the Blue and White with
Kaylee Drake and Peyton Wrentz all totaling nine strikeouts for GSC.
How It Happened
Catherine Pelfrey opened up the offensive attack for the Blue and White on a single to shallow right.
Ashley Fridley then reached first on a fielder's choice as Pelfrey was forced out at second.
Mackenzie Martinelli then singled through the second base hole scoring Fridley holding a 1-0 start for GSC.
Jasmine Runk in the second then singled to center but would be caught stealing in an attempt to add another run to the Blue and White board.
Kaelyn Stenger then picked up the first walk for GSC but left stranded as they maintained a 1-0 lead going into the sixth.
Carlow swiped a run across the plate top of the sixth tying the ball game 1-1. Fridley then singled to short and scored off
Karra Smith's big triple down the left field line. Smith then scored off Marinelli's squeeze play to put GSC back on top with a 3-1 lead. Taylor long then picked up a single to center but both Martinelli and Long would be left stranded ending the sixth.

Glenville State totaled seven hits on the day where as Carlow only picked up five. GSC's
Mackenzie Martinelli led the pack going 2-for-3 on the day while also scoring two RBIs.
Kaelyn Stenger picked the Pioneers lone walk on as
Catherine Pelfrey, Ashley Fridely,
Karra Smith,
Jasmine Runk and
Taylor Long each touched bases off one hit.
