How It Happened
Game One:
Karra Smith started a two-out rally for GSC with a shot to the left side landing her on first base.
Mackenzie Martinelli added to the fire with a double to the left scoring Smith marking the first run on the board for the Pioneer's.
Kaylee Drake stepped up to the plate sending an absolute shot over the fence as Martenelli scored along with Drake putting GSC ahead 3-0 after the top of the first.
GSC's bats took a stunt in the second while D&E retaliated making the score 4-3 after the second inning. Glenville State refused to lay down.
Ashley Fridley lead the Lady Pioneer's in the third by earning a spot on first with a walk while
Ashton Palmer followed behind advancing Fridley to second with a single to short-stop. Martinelli continued to stay hot for GSC with a rocket to center as she put herself on first scooting two Pioneers in scoring position.
Drake, a freshman standout for GSC delivered a bomb of a grand slam clearing the bases, sending Fridley, Palmer, and Martinelli home putting the Lady Pioneer's ahead 7-4.
D&E answered softly as they scored one run off of one hit while GSC forced two stranded D&E runners.
Palmer started the Lady Pioneer's off in the fifth singling up the middle with Martinelli delivering once again with a single to third advancing Palmer to second. Staying hot at the plate Drake singled to right center pushing Martinelli to second and Palmer to third.
With bases loaded, Peyton Wertnz stepped up to the plate with great pitch selection as she drew a spot on first walking in an RBI.
Kaelyn Stenger added to the run with a sacrifice fly to the infield scoring

D&E answered as they earned five runs off of six hits as it tallied 10-9 D&E after the fifth.
Fridley and Palmer put on a show as they laid down back-to-back bunts down the third base line. Smith then nailed a double to left scoring Fridley as Palmer finding herself a place on third.
After a pitching switch for D&E, Martinelli came through for GSC with a hit to the left side scoring Palmer putting the Lady Pioneer's ahead of the game by one run. GSC retaliated defensively holding their 11-10 lead as Smith turned and owned a double play executed from second to first.
One run was earned in the seventh by D&E tying the tallies up 11-11 forcing a potentially exciting extra inning for the slugfest.
GSC's bats were stunned in the eighth after a hard fought competition between D&E as D&E finished the game in walk-off fashion with a homer with one Senator on first making the final tallies 13-11.
Game Two:
After a slow start at the plate, Glenville State found themselves in a bit of a hole as they fell behind 6-0 after the third.
Ashley Fridley got the bats started for the Lady Pioneer's in the top of the fourth singling up the middle. Fridley then advanced to second on a stolen base and was picked off later on her attempt to third.
Karra Smith followed with a laser down the left field line and made it to second on an error by D&E's second baseman but GSC did not score Smith. GSC kept D&E's bats quiet in the bottom of the fourth.
Kaylee Drake got the bats rolling in the top of the fifth with a single to the left field side as teammate
Jessica Williams followed behind sending them both home quickly with a rocket over the fence putting GSC on the board but still behind 6-2.
D&E scored one run in the fifth as a runner advanced home on a wild pitch extending their lead 7-2.
Ashton Palmer obtained the lone hit for GSC in the top of the sixth as they came back defensively holding D&E to another scoreless inning.
GSC was not able to produce hits in the seventh leaving the final score at 7-2

Glenville State tallied 21 hits on the day.
Freshman standout
Kaylee Drake made a statement at the plate today going 4-7 with two home runs and six RBI's.
Mackenzie Martinelli and
Karra Smith also delivered at the plate. Martinelli went 4-8 and picked up a double and two RBI's while Smith went 3-7 picking up a double and an RBI as well.
Jessica Williams went 1-2 at the plate with a homerun and two RBI's.
Peyton Wertnz took the loss in game one and only allowed five hits while walking zero D&E batter. In game two,
Ashley Fridley gained the loss while giving up only three hits.
Coming Up
The Lady Pioneer's will be on the road to face off the Lady Bobcat's of West Virginia Wesleyan College in a double header tomorrow, March 27th, at 1:00 and 3:00pm.
