Buckhannon W.Va.- The Lady Pioneer (4-15, 1-7 MEC) softball team split a doubleheader with the Bobcats of WVWC (1-3, 1-3 MEC) on Saturday.

How It Happened

Game One:
Â
The Bobcats would score first as they scored three runs in the first to take an early 3-0 lead. The Pioneers would attempt to answer back but was unsuccessful.Â
Â
WVWC then added four more runs in the bottom of the second as they held a 7-0 lead over GSC.
Â
Pioneers had a shot in the third to put some runs on the board but ended up short.
Â
WVWC however scored again in the bottom of the third, and the fourth, taking game one 9-0.

The Bobcats tallied 10 hits while GSC went hitless. The Lady Pioneers also had two errors.

Abigai O'Shields threw a no-hitter against GSC. She walked two batters while striking out five batters.

Kaylee Drake pitched 1.1 innings as she allowed four hits and seven runs.

Game Two:
Â
Glenville State would strike first in the first as they had four cross the plate to take a 4-0 lead. It started when
Kaylee Drake hitting a two RBI single as
Karra Smith,
Ashton Palmer both scoring and then
Mackenzie Martinelli scored on an error.
Â
Jessica Williams then hit an RBI single scoring
Kaylee Drake.
Â
WVWC came right back and tied it up in the third inning at 4-4.

Karra Smith would break the tie in the fourth as she doubled to center field scoring
Ashley Fridley and
Haley Smith as they went up 6-4. However, GSC wasn't done as
Karra Smith scored an unearned run as they took a 7-4 lead.

The Bobcats would add a run in the fifth but that's as close as they would get as GSC earned their first conference win of the season, 7-5.

Kaylee Drake went 1-for-3 with two RBI's.
Peyton Werntz earned the win on the mound as she allowed five runs on 10 hits with a strike out.
