Pioneers Suffer in Fall Against Senators

Glenville, W.Va.– Holding a close match up going into the half, the Pioneers would fall 3-0 to neighboring Davis & Elkins (2-3) in home contest dropping to 1-3 on the year.

How It Happened

First Half:

It was a quiet first half the both Glenville State and Davis & Elkins College. The Senator's tallied six shots with three being on goal as GSC's Mackenzie Hendricks hit the first shot on goal for the Pioneers at the 8:29 mark.

Miki Abe then picked up the second shot on goal at the 37:42-minute mark ending the first half tied nil-nil.

Second Half:

Then in the second, the Senators broke the tie with a goal at the 65-mark by D&E's Maria Cabel.

Down the stretch, the Senator's extended their lead to 2-0 then 3-0 within five minutes of the second goal.

In their final attempt to break the seal, Mackenzie Hendricks would shoot the last Pioneer shot with one-minute remaining, however GSC would fall short 3-0 in the conference matchup.

The Pioneers tallied six total shots in the match up with four being on goal, however the Senators would outshoot GSC with 20 shots and 11 on goal.

Mackenzie Hendricks attempted to put the Pioneers on the board with two shots both on goal with Miki Abe following with the same efforts.

Kaitlyn Bruce and Kelsey Wright each added a shot for the Pioneers.

Morgan Smailes totaled eight saves on the night.
