Yellow Jackets Blank Pioneers, 5-0

Institute, W.Va. – The Glenville State women's soccer team dropped a road contest on Friday evening to the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State University, 5-0.

How It Happened

First Half:

The Yellow Jackets (2-3-1) struck first early in the first at the 2:41 minute mark as Brooklyn Pritt scored off of a Paula Murcia assist as they took a 1-0 lead.

Glenville State (1-4) tried to answer back however they could not find the back of the net as they trailed WVSU, 1-0 at intermission.

GSC had just two shots in the first half while WVSU had 11 total shots.

The Lady Pioneers committed four fouls while the Yellow Jackets had six fouls.

Second Half:  

West Virginia State added another goal at the 53:35 minute mark as Cierra Savin scored on an assist from Juliana Campos Lima as they led 2-0.

The Yellow Jackets went on to add three more goals at the 67:36 mark, the 69:47 mark, and the 89:23 mark as they defeated the Lady Pioneers, 5-0.

Inside the Box Score

Glenville State tallied six shots while West Virginia State had 29 total shots. The Yellow Jackets had nine corner kicks while GSC had none.

WVSU had 17 fouls with GSC having seven.

Abe Miki had four shots with two on goal for the Lady Pioneers while Shyanne Martin and Kaitlyn Bruce each had a shot.

For WVSU, Cierra Savin had two goals while; Brooklyn Pitt, Lainey Armistead, and Karem Rodriguez all had a goal.

Goalie, Morgan Smailes had 14 saves for the Pioneers while Christian Walls had two saves for the Yellow Jackets.

Glenville State will return to the action on Tuesday, April 6 when they travel to Concord University for a 5pm matchup with the Mountain Lions.
