How It Happened

Game One:

UC responded in the top of the third swiping two runs taking their first lead at 2-1 however, the Pioneers wouldn't let that side. Loading the bases in the third, Smith and Mackenzie Martinelli both hit RBI singles scoring Fridley and Kaelynn Stenger pushing GSC ahead 4-2.

The Golden Eagles then scored another run the next inning trailing 4-3. UC tied the ball game at four a piece in the sixth and took the lead in the seventh with a three run RBI to regain their lead at 7-4.

In the foot of the inning and in the Pioneer's last crack at the bats, Ashton Palmer hit a single to right and advanced to second on a UC error. Though she would be left stranded at second as GSC dropped game one 7-4.

Celina Maberto took the loss on the mound giving up eight hits with Kaylee Drake allowing seven.

UC scored three runs in the first as GSC responded quick. Karra Smith hit a line shot to second with Mackenzie Martinelli following with a long triple past UC's right fielder ending the first trailing 3-1.

In the second, Catherine Pelfrey beat the throw from UC's third baseman stealing second and third and scored off a wild pitch. Then to tie the ball game at three-all, Ashton Palmer opened the third reaching first on a UC error and scored off Kara Smith's double to left.

Holding a 3-3 tie in the foot of the sixth, Peyton Wrentz hit a single up the middle with Jessica Williams behind her with a doubled down the line, though both would be left stranded.
