How It Happened

Game One:

Then in the bottom of the inning, Kaelynn Stenger singled to center as Katelyn Richardson followed as she was hit by pitch. Haylee Stevens would advance Stenger to third on a fielder's choice but all would be halted ending the inning with two left on base.

In the sixth, the Pioneers would score their first run as Palmer beat the throw from short and scoring off Catherine Pelfrey's RBI single to reduce their deficit 5-1.

Cutting a close edge in the Pioneer's final crack at the bat, Stevens singled as Ashley Fridley followed behind forcing a WLU error. Contagious errors would then allow Stevens to score as Mackenzie Martinelli then singled to right scoring Fridley but ending the contest with a 5-3 loss.

Peyton Wrentz on the mound pitched a full 7.0 innings striking out out four Hilltoppers and allowing just five hits although, Wrentz would gain the loss.

Game Two:

Ashley Fridley picked up the first hit of the contest before WLU scored their first run in the second.

The Hilltoppers would swipe another run in the fourth as Peyton Wrentz drew a walk. Catherine Pelfrey would replace Wrentz at first and stealing second but held in scoring position.
