Women’s Soccer Set for Mountain Lions and Golden Eagles

Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer soccer team is set for a busy week ahead with two matchups. GSC will take on Concord in a makeup contest this Tuesday, April 6 on the road and then host the University of Charleston at home on Friday, April 9.

Glenville State (1-4) is looking for their second win of the shortened season. Hey are coming into Tuesday's matchup after dropping a road contest to West Virginia State, 5-0.

The Lady Pioneers have three goals on the season while they have allowed 18 by their opponents. Opponents are also outshooting GSC, 111 to 32.

Concord (4-1) is coming into the game after defeating Wheeling University, 5-0. The Mountain Lions only loss on the year came to the University of Charleston, 4-0, back on March 5.

The Mountain Lions have 12 goals on the year while their opponents have four, all from UC.

They also have 90 shots on the season while allowing 34 from their opponents.

Leah Foster leads Concord in goals with four while Yasmin Mosby and Courtney Smith each have three. Goalkeeper, Leah Marsh has 16 saves on the year.

Charleston (3-0-1) just had a 0-0 tie with Fairmont State back on March 19. Their game with West Liberty on March 26 was canceled.

UC has 11 goals on the season while they haven't given up a goal yet.

The Golden Eagles have 43 shots on the year while their opponents have 20 shots.

Rachel Osborne and Kassandra Demps each have two goals on the season.

Goalkeepers, Carol Burgess and Kaylee Hensley have keep UC opponents scoreless thus far this season.

Hensley has seven saves this year while Burgess has two saves.

Pioneer Highlights

Glenville State's win this season came on the road at Alderson Broaddus in double OT, 2-1.

Alexa Smith, Miki be, and Mackenzie Hendricks all have a goal on the season.

Smith also has an assist while Shyanne Martin also has one assist.

Goalie, Morgan Smailes has 30 saves while Jasmine Runk has 18 saves this season.
