Glenville, W.Va. – Glenville State (5-20, 2-12) picked up their second conference win splitting with Concord University (8-12, 6-6 MEC)in two close matchups. The Pioneer's timely homeruns would be a significant key to GSC's victory in game two.

How It Happened
Game One:
Concord swiped two runs on the board early in the ball game. The Pioneers quickly responded with
Mackenzie Martinellie's two run shot scoring
Ashley Fridley to tie the ball game at two all.
Kaelynn Stenger opened the second beating out a grounder to third with Peyton Wrentz following with a shot to left however both would be left stranded.
Then in the third, the Mountain Lions added two to the board and one in the fifth. Then in the foot of the inning, Wrentz would be hit by pitch and replaced at first by Lauren Kisner. Fridley would then single to right but mimicking the third both would be held at first and second.
In the sixth, Martinelli singled to right and stole second, her fourth in the season but the Pioneer's timely hitting could not pull through as GSC fell 5-2.
Peyton Werntz took the loss on the mound after pitching a solid seven innings. Wrentz gave up just five hits and two strikeouts.
Game Two:
Mimicking game one, CU swiped a pair as GSC tied the ball game in the first as
Karra Smith homered dead center with
Ashley Fridley on base.
Then in the third,
Katelyn Richardson hit her second career homerun over the left field wall putting the Pioneers up 3-2.
Concord would regain their lead at 4-3 but not for long as
Jessica Williams then hit another homerun for the Pioneers in left with Richardson adding another one, again over left field.
The Pioneers would go on to win 5-4 as
Celina Maberto pitched a full seven giving up just five hits and sitting two Mountain Lions off two strikeouts.
Inside The Box Score
Glenville State rallied 13 hits on the day including five homeruns where as Concord totaled 12 hits.
Mackenzie Martinelli,
Jessica Williams and
Katelyn Richardson each totaled two hits. Richardson led the pack with two homeruns as Martinelli also hit a homerun and scored two RBIs.
Williams also knocked a homerun and scored an RBI as
Ashley Fridley went 3-for-6 on the day while scoring two runs.
Karra Smith ended the two games with a homerun and two RBIs.
