Glenville- Pioneer Women's Soccer hosted nationally ranked Concord University on Wednesday evening. The sixteenth ranked Mountain Lions came into the conference matchup undefeated on the year, outscoring their opponent 24-2 in the process.
Glenville could not hold the Mountain Lions off long as they struck first in the ninth minute with a shot fired low right by Leah Foster. Concord would hit the cross bar in the seventeenth minute, and would keep applying pressure throughout the first half, but Pioneer goalie
Morgan Smailes would keep the score 1-0 heading into the half.
Miki Abe ten minutes into the second half would fire a shot missed left to try and gain some momentum for the Pioneers. Yasmin Mosby of Concord would help the Mountain Lions regain momentum converting on a penalty shot to take the score to 2-0.
Concord continued to press in the second half, and Zoe Belding nailed a shot top left to score the final goal of the match, and to seal the 3-0 win.
Morgan Smailes recorded six saves on the night for the Pioneers. Glenville Women's Soccer will host University of Charleston at home on Sunday, and look to find revenge against the Golden Eagles who took down the Piooners 1-0 last week.
