Glenville State Women’s Soccer Faces West Liberty and Notre Dame College

Glenville, W.Va. -Glenville State's Women's Soccer program is back in action this week traveling to Notre Dame College tonight and hosting Notre Dame College Sunday afternoon. The Lady Pioneers are (1-3-1) all-time against the Hilltoppers and are (0-3) against the Falcons.

A Look at West Liberty

West Liberty enters tonight's contest with a (4-9-1) overall record and is (3-8-1) in the Mountain East Conference. The Hilltoppers are coming off a 7-0 loss to Concord University. West Liberty is coached by Barry Christmas who enters his eleventh year with the program. Amelia Compston has been an overall offensive threat for the Hilltoppers this season producing two goals and assists. Rileigh Guatltiere and Claire Kelly have also scored two goals this season. Sophomore defender Isabella Aperfine has been solid on both sides accounting for two assists and a game-winning goal. In goal for West Liberty, this season is Zara Wickert. Wickert has started 14 matches and has made 67 saves. 

A Look at Notre Dame College

The Falcons of Notre Dame College enter Sunday's match with a (5-6-3) overall record and a (4-5-3) record in the MEC. Notre Dame is coming off a 2-0 loss to Frostburg State University. The Falcons are coached by Mike Shiels who enters his 20th season under the helm. Madison Marino has been NDC's leading goal scorer this season with five followed by Maridza Desir with four. A whole slew of Falcons has created assists during the 2022 campaign. In goal for Notre Dame College, this season has been Senior Jordan Pasalaqua. Pasalaqua has started 13 matches for the Falcons and has made 59 saves.

A Look at The Pioneers

Glenville enters this week off a 7-4 loss on senior night to Wheeling University. The match proved to be historic for Merel Smeets as she became the all-time leading goal scorer in the history of the program. Smeets's three goals in last Sunday's match have propelled her to lead the team in goals this season. Sophomore Tori Cutright is close behind with two. Ivy White has accounted for two assists during the 2022 campaign. Mikayla Brown has started the most games in goal for the Lady Pioneers this season. Brown has made 77 saves for Glenville.
