Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Lex Shaffer

Lady Pioneers Drop MEC Match to Notre Dame College 7-0.

Glenville, W.Va. - Glenville State's Women's Soccer team hosted the Falcons of Notre Dame College at Morris Stadium. The Lady Pioneers fall to Notre Dame College 7-0. Glenville would be outshot 15-6 in this afternoon's contest. The Pioneer's record is now (0-16) overall and (0-14) in the league. 

Opening the first half of play the Pioneers created a chance at the two-minute mark. Merel Smets's shot missed high and to the left. Minutes after Glenville's shot the Falcons found the back of the net. Madison Marino made an excellent move to free herself from the Pioneer's defense. Notre Dame in the 16th minute extended their lead. A pass by Emma Buda would find Louisa Follert for the goal. The Lady Pioneers continued to battle throughout the match. Destiny Navarrete produced a shot but the Falcon's keeper made the save. Tori Cutright's shot in the 28th would be the last shot of the half for the Pioneers. Notre Dame scored three more times before the end of the half growing their lead to 5-0.

In the early minutes of the second half, Louisa Follert found the back of the net for the Falcons. After the early goal, Notre Dame College in the 72nd minute extended their lead once again. Offensively the Pioneers continued to struggle in the second half. Glenville did not produce a  shot until the last ten minutes of the half. Hannah Hill and Tori Cutright created chances for the Pioneers during this stretch. 

Freshman Katy Lawerance started for Glenville for the first time in her career. Tessa Cinotti played the entire match for the Pioneers. Hannah Hill and Tori Cutright lead Glenvile in shots with two. Goalkeeper Mikayla Brown made six saves for the Pioneers.
