Lady Pioneers Travel to Concord for MEC Play

Glenville, W.Va. - Glenville State's Women's Volleyball Team continues Mountain East Conference play against the Concord University Mountain Lions. The Lady Pioneers enter tonight's contest with a (12-8) record overall and (1-3) in the MEC.

Concord enters the contest with a (6-13) record overall and (0-4) in the conference. The Mountain Lions are coached by Kate Dillon. Dillon enters her 14th season under the helm and has coached a total of 11 all-conference players. Over the past five years, the match-up has favored Concord. The Mountain Lions are 6-2 in the last eight match-ups. Hannah Steele leads Concord in kills this season with 203 followed by Kyndra Pilant with 125. As a team, the Mountain Lions have produced 104 service aces. Freshman Setter Kenzee Chaffin has accounted for 478 assists this season. Defensively, the Mountain Lions are also led by Chaffin with 158 digs. Amber Hal has produced 38 blocks followed by Kyndra Pilant with 32.

The Pioneers are coming off a 3-1 defeat to the University of Charleston Golden Eagles. As a team, Glenville has been one of the best in the league and nation in serves. Katarzyna Niderla has 37 service aces this season which is second in the MEC. Helín Halden is close behind Niderla with 35 placing her third in the conference. The Lady Pioneers average 2.38 aces per set which leads the conference and ranks them 11th nationally. Niderla has paired her 37 aces with 236 kills proving to be an overall offensive threat for Glenville. Setter Sarah Grainger leads the Pioneers in assists with 293. Defensively, Lindsay Winkler has produced 251 digs this season followed by Transfer Zoe Schmidt with 170. Niderla and Nalaina Funk have been solid on the defensive side. Both have combined for a total of 118 blocks for the Lady Pioneers.
