Box Score ELKINS – Glenville State scored two early goals Saturday afternoon to stake a 2-0 lead at Davis & Elkins, but the Senators mounted a comeback and charged to a 4-2 win. The hard-fought match was played on the D&E campus at the Harpertown Athletic Complex.

J.R. Dodson's GSU squad found the net quickly, with
Merel Smets hitting the upper right of the goal off an assist from
Tori Cutright at the 4:35 mark. Just moments later,
Tessa Cinotti extended the advantage, drilling home a winner into the lower right of the goal off an assist from
Alyssa West at 7:52.
Glenville maintained the 2-0 lead for 23 minutes, before Senators bounced back with a trio of goals before halftime; Seika Ikezoe scored at 30:59, Danielle Grimmer at 33:43, and Sachiko Gamo at 38:14. All three goals were assisted by Davis & Elkins' star Alexa Karsel. The score remained 3-2 at the half, but the Senators would tally an insurance goal in the 64
th minute, as Madison Rose scored off Karsel's fourth assist of the afternoon.
D&E led in shots 18-8, and in shots on goal 12-3. The Senators were also awarded nine corner kicks to only one for the Lady Pioneers.
Smets' goal for Glenville was historic in that it tied Leighanna Weaver for the top spot in program history for career goals scored.
D&E improves to 6-4-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the MEC. Glenville falls to 0-12 overall, 0-10 in the league.
Glenville is back in action on Wednesday, playing Southern Division rival West Virginia Wesleyan.
