Headline - No. 6 Lady Pioneers End Road Trip With a Win Over Lock Haven

Lock Haven, Pa. - Glenville State Women's Basketball extend their winning streak to six with the 73-48 win over Lock Haven University. The Lady Pioneers held the Bald Eagles to 10% shooting from three. Coach Stephens's squad also forced a total of 32 turnovers which led to 40 points for Glenville. 

The Lady Pioneers were able to get on the board first with a fast break layup by Mo Pruitt assisted by Breanna Campbell. Glenville opened up the first minutes of the contest on a 12-4 run with several Lady Pioneers getting involved early. However, both teams would hit a scoring drought for the remainder of the quarter.

Starting from the under-five media timeout both squads only combined for eight points. GSU's defense shinned during this stretch holding Lock Haven just a jump shot. A Layup by Cabria Lewis with about a minute left put Glenville up 19-6 before the end of the quarter.

GSU's shooting woes carried over into the second quarter. As a team, the Lady Pioneers shot 25% from the field. Once again Glenville's defense came in clutch. The Bald Eagles were held to 15.4% from the field in the second quarter and turned over the ball seven times. 

Glenville closed out the first half on a 9-2 run to extend their lead. Four Lady Pioneers contributed during the stretch. Deja Atkinson started the run with a layup and a jumper by Mickyla Perdue closed out the run. While GSU had a look from three down the stretch the Lady Pioneers went into the half up 73-48.

The Lady Pioneers caught fire in the third quarter shooting 57.9% from the field and going 7-11 from three. In a two-minute span, Glenville produced another dominant run scoring 17 out of the next 19 points. Skylar Davidson, Mickayla Perdue, Mo Pruitt, Cabria Lewis, and Tor'e Alford all connected from deep. Heading into the under-five media timeout the Lady Pioneers led by 33.

Coming out of the timeout GSU continued to grow their advantage. At the 1:35 mark in the third Glenville had the largest lead of the contest 62-22. Lock Haven ended the half by getting to the free-throw line twice.

In the opening minutes of the remaining quarter, the Bald Eagles finally got going offensively. Lock Haven started out the fourth quarter on a 14-0 run. However, the Lady Pioneers started trading baskets with LHU for the remainder of the contest shutting down the Bald Eagles' late surge.

Mickayla Perdue led Glenville in scoring with 17 points in the winning effort. Both Breanna Campbell and Mo Pruitt finished the game with 10 points. Campbell produced a team-high six steals. Skylar Davidson and Hya Haywood both accounted for three assists. Sophomore Deja Atkinson had a game-high eight rebounds for the Lady Pioneers.
