The Lady Pioneers Roll Past Alderson Broaddus 126-68

Glenville, W.Va. - Glenville State Women's Basketball kicked off their two-game home stint with a win over the Battlers of Alderson Broaddus 126-68. The Lady Pioneers scored 56 points in the paint and shot 43.2% from three. GSU was also able to force 36 turnovers which led to 46 points for Coach Stephen's squad.

Right out of the jump the Lady Pioneers were firing on all cylinders going on a 9-0 run to start off the contest. During the run, Mickayla Perdue hit a three and then scored a layup on the fast break. Purdue the transfer from Toledo would go 6-11 from three. Glenville held the Battlers' offense in check only allowing seven points in the first quarter.

The Lady Pioneers continued to score with ease in the second quarter of play. Before the under-five media timeout, Glenville produced another dominant streak. The 15-4 run helped GSU grow their advantage to 34. AB would double their offensive production before heading into the half. The Lady Pioneers' bench almost doubled their scoring from the first quarter producing 21 points in the second. With eight seconds remaining Breanna Campbell hit a jumper inside the paint putting GSU up 63-26 before the half.

In the third quarter, Glenville caught fire shooting 62% from the field and 61% from three. The Lady Pioneers would hit a total of eight threes in the quarter. Tor'e Alford was lights out from three in the third hitting a total of five three-pointers. An and-one by Skye Dugan continued to swing the momentum in favor of GSU.

In the remaining ten minutes of the contest, the Lady Pioneers' shooting started to cool off. With Glenville having a 66-point advantage heading into the fourth, Coach Stephen's squad started to use more of the shot clock. After Cabria Lewis would two free throws at the 4:03 mark GSU did not score another bucket.

Mickayla Perdue had a team and game-high 26 points along with four assists. Guard Breanna Campbell finished the contest with a double-double scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Tor'e Alford, Hya Haywood, and Mo Pruitt all finished with ten or more points.
