No. 1 Lady Pioneers Travel to Institute Monday

GLENVILLE – Coach Kim Stephens and her #1 ranked Lady Pioneers face a quick turnaround Monday night, traveling to West Virginia State for a tough Mountain East Conference road test. State is currently second in the Mountain East Conference, and coached by former GSC head coach Charles Marshall (2014-16).

Glenville is coming off Saturday's 105-47 victory over Wheeling in the Waco Center. The Lady Pioneers are in the middle of a stretch that includes five games in a ten-day span.

Re'Shawna Stone and Zakiyah Winfield are both having high level seasons in leading GSC; Stone is averaging 18.4 points per game, and leads the team with 75 assists and 55 steals. Winfield is averaging 16.9 ppg, and is the team's top rebounder averaging 6.7. She is second to Stone with 56 assists and 42 steals. Dazha Congleton (11.3) and Taychaun Hubbard (11.1) are also averaging in double figures…each with 39 steals of their own. Hubbard has recorded a team-high 10 blocked shots.

Stone and Mashayla Cecil have hit a team-high 45 three-pointers each, with Vendela Danielsson connecting on 32. Abby Stoller is second to Winfield in rebounding average at 5.7

State also possesses a balanced attack, with six players averaging between 11.9 and 8.0 points per game. They are shooting 71.6% as a team from the foul line, and their 203 made three's is second only to Glenville's 222.

Glenville enters the contest 22-0 and 17-0 in the MEC. State is also on a roll, sitting at 17-5 overall and 13-4 in the league.
