GLENVILLE – Coach Justin Caldwell's Glenville State Pioneers brought their lunch-pales Saturday afternoon, grinding out a workmanlike victory over the visiting West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats. The game was played before Glenville's Winter Homecoming crowd.
Glenville led wire-to-wire. They came out of the gates fast, posting a quick 14-0 lead, and build the lead to as high as 17 points in the first half. The advantage was 45-31 at the half. Wesleyan battled back and cut the deficit to single digits at different points of the second half, but could never get within striking distance.
Adrian Scarborough delivered another outstanding double-double, his 10th in the last 13 games. He tallied 21 points and pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds against the Bobcats. John Williams Jr. continued to pad his MEC scoring lead by scoring 24 points. Tommy Williams and Zane DeSouza both hit double figures as well; Williams with 13 and Desouza 11.
Glenville led in team rebounding 32-28.
Tommie Pope led Wesleyan with 18 points, followed by Braeden McGrew with 16.
Glenville improves to 11-13 with the win, 8-12 in the Mountain East Conference. Wesleyan falls to 2-24 overall, and 1-19 in the MEC.
