GLENVILLE – Glenville State University's #1 ranked Lady Pioneers put on a show Saturday afternoon, performing before a loud Senior Day crowd and defeating a 20-win Concord squad 96-53. With the win, Glenville closes out an unprecedented undefeated regular season. Their average margin of victory has been 35 points.
Senior Day Festivities started the afternoon, as eight Lady Pioneers were honored with their families. It was a celebration of a truly iconic group…one that has gone 95-12 over the last four years, and has posted a staggering 43-2 mark inside the Waco Center.
The Lady Pioneers have now won a school record 13 league titles…with five of those coming in the last six years under Coach
Kim Stephens. In an historic twist of irony, Coach Stephens captured her 150
th career win on Saturday, the exact week in which the institution became 150 years old. Stephens now sports a career record that is a mind-blowing 150-20.
After the glitter settled from the pregame festivities, GSU settled the issue quickly. They rolled to an immediate 11-4 lead, and extended the margin 22-7 at the quarter break. At halftime the lead had ballooned to 49-21. In the second half, they added on to the advantage throughout. It was the 19
th time this season that GSU has topped 90 points.

Zakiyah Winfield scored 18,
Re'Shawna Stone 16,
Taychaun Hubbard 15,
Dazha Congleton 11, and
Mashayla Cecil 10. Fifth-year player
Abby Stoller added nine in her Waco Center regular season finale. Winfield attained a double-double with 10 rebounds. Congleton and Stone each posted team-highs of three assists.
Glenville was 38-of-78 from the field for 48.7%. They hit nine three for the game, led by a pair from both Cecil and Stone. The Lady Pioneer defense forced 22 Concord turnovers, which led to 27 GSU points.
Gilmer County native Riley Fitzwater led the Mountain Lions with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jazz Blankenship added 10.
Glenville closes their regular season a perfect 27-0, 22-0 in the Mountain East Conference. Concord closes their regular season 20-10 overall, and 13-9 in the MEC. Both teams will be back in action next week at the MEC Tournament in Wheeling.
