Pioneer Softball Falls to Yellow Jackets

Glenville - Glenville State's Softball Team opened Mountain East Conference play Saturday, opening a with a pair of hard luck losses to West Virginia State 2-1 and 5-2 at the Sue Morris Complex.  In game one, the Pioneers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with Monica Rodelo, producing an RBI single that scored Addison Aguiniga.  State answered with single runs in the second and fourth innings, then held on down the stretch to claim the 2-1 victory.  Glennville's Holly Brehm had a strong outing on the mound allowing only three hits, striking out eleven while walking only one.

State starter Kasey Murphy went the distance on the mound to gain the winning decision.  She also delivered a solo home run.  Glenville outhit the Yellow Jackets in game one 7-3.

In game two, State built a 4-0 lead, but the Pioneers responded with a two-run home run from Aguiniga in the bottom of the fourth, trimming the State advantage to 4-2.
