GLENVILLE – Glenville's Acrobatics & Tumbling team scored a victory Sunday afternoon, defeating league rival Alderson-Broaddus 226-196. The Pioneers won five of the six events, in the tightly contested meet, and pulled away from the Battlers with a strong team routine to close the day.
Glenville opened the event, taking the Compulsory event 30-28. They followed that with a 25-24 win in the Acro event, followed by a close 25.95-25.10 win in the Pyramid competition, taking an 81-78 lead into halftime.
In the second half, GSU extended their lead slightly with a 23-22 take in the Toss competition, but A-B responded to gain a tight win in the Tumbling competition, 43.85-43.20. This set the stage for the final event, the Team Routine, with Glenville holding a tight three and a half point advantage.
Glenville's unit came up big in the finale, outscoring the Battlers 77-51, providing the necessary points to close the victory. The Pioneer squad that came up big on the mat together in the Team Routine and throughout other events throughout the meet; Megan Bankes, Mackenzie Bathe, Gillian Cooper, Madelyn Countryman, Hannah Cunningham, Tori Cutright, Sadie Eddins, Nicole Espinoza, Taylor Goett, Madisyn Hahn, Hanna Hanulik, Caitlyn Looney, Abigail McDermott, Payten Semenske, Autumn Spangler, Abigail Swinderman, Morgan Thomas, and Madelin Toy.
Glenville closes MEC regular season competition on April 1, hosting traditional MEC power Fairmont in the Waco Center.
