GLENVILLE – Glenville's Softball team played Davis & Elkins Tuesday afternoon at the Sue Morris Complex, with the Senators taking both games; 5-3 and 13-2.
In Game One, D&E mounted a 4-0 lead with a single run in the fifth and three runs in the sixth. Glenville responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth. They could not complete the comeback, as the Senators posted an add-on run in the seventh.
In Game Two, D&E got out quickly with an eight-run first inning. They were able to ride the three-hit pitching of Ava Willis from there to complete the sweep.
Jasmine Runk was the primary offensive weapon on the day for GSU, hitting a two-run homer in each game. Hayley Stevens and Sophia DelVecchio each had a pair of hits over the doubleheader. Addison Aguiniga and Katie Richardson each added a single over the two games.
D&E's Mia Mendoza was the star of the day for Senators, going six-for-seven with a pair of doubles and four RBI's. Lindsay Allard and Maddie Lavell each hit solo home runs.
Glenville falls to 5-15 overall with the losses, and 1-7 in the MEC. D&E improves to 8-15 overall, and 6-2 in the league.
Coach Sara Scoone's team is on the road this weekend, traveling to the Kanawha Valley play doubleheaders against the University of Charleston and West Virginia State.
