GSU Softball Drops Doubleheader at West Virginia Wesleyan

Buckhannon – Glenville State entered today's doubleheader on the road for the first time since April 11. The bobcats prevailed in both games, winning the first game 5-2, and the second game 7-6. Both of today's games were tough battles to the very end.

Game one featured two of the top pitchers in the league Hannah Hudson for West Virginia Wesleyan and Holly Brehm for Glenville. Both Brehm and Hudson pitched a complete game for their teams. The Pioneers kept the game within one or two runs until the bottom of the fourth. Wesleyan delivered the final blow with a two-run homer by Ali Robinson.

Game two of Saturday's doubleheader saw five lead changes all before the fifth inning. For the Pioneers Freshman, Madison Thimmes got the start, and for West Virginia Wesleyan Abigail O'Shields. Both teams traded runs every inning until the top of the fourth. Addison Aguiniga scored the first of three runs for the Pioneers with a sacrifice hit to second base. Jasmine Runk singled to right field scoring the last two runs for the Pioneers giving Glenville a 6-4 lead. Latter In the same inning Ali Robison hit a three-run homer to give West Virginia Wesleyan the lead 7-6.

Glenville falls to 17-26 with the loss and is now 13-18 in the MEC. West Virginia Wesleyan improves to 33-14-1 overall, and 23-7 in the league.
