GSU Softball Drops Doubleheader at Concord

ATHENS – Glenville State's Softball squad went on the road Wednesday afternoon, playing their travel partner Concord in a mid-week doubleheader in Athens. The Mountain Lions prevailed in both games, winning Game One 2-0, and the nightcap, 7-3.

Game One was a pitchers' duel between Glenville's Holly Brehm and Concord's Caitlyn Bauer. Brehm went the distance, giving up five hits, only one earned run, and struck out 10 CU hitters. Brehm is now only two strikeouts off the program's single season record. Bauer went the distance for the Mountain Lions, recording a two-hit shutout. Haylee Stevens and Monica Rodelo each had hits for the Pioneers.

Concord pushed to an early 4-0 lead in Game Two, but Glenville rallied to post three runs in the top of the fourth inning. The big blow of the frame was a two-run home run off the bat of Kaelyn Stenger, with Sophia Delvecchio provding the other RBI. Jasmine Runk went two-for-four in the game with a double, with Ashton Palmer adding a double.

Glenville falls to 6-20 with the loss, and is now 2-12 in the MEC. Concord improves to 10-24 overall, and 3-11 in the league.
