Glenville- Taylor Broadwater has been named the new Acrobatics and Tumbling Coach at Glenville State University the GSU Athletic Department has announced. Coach Broadwater is a native of Vienna, West Virginia, and attended Glenville State from 2016-2019. The native from Viena, West Virginia, comes to Glenville after serving as an assistant for the last three years at West Virginia Wesleyan.
Broadwater was the first athlete signed to the inaugural Glenville State Acrobatics and Tumbling Team in 2016. As an athlete at Glenville, Broadwater was a member of the 2018 Open Pyramid team that won the national title and was a member of the 2019 unit that finished 9th in the nation.
Broadwater when asked about taking on the position stated, "As a member of the inaugural Glenville State Acrobatics and Tumbling Team, I am excited for the opportunity to return to my alma mater to coach this fast-growing sport that provides female athletes an opportunity to compete at the college level. I look forward to working with this team and maximizing their potential."
During the 2022 season, Broadwater led the Bobcat program as interim head coach. Under her direction at Wesleyan one athlete was named to the All-MEC First Team, and two more athletes earned All-MEC Second Team Honors. Also under her time is interim head coach Wesleyan earned two individual conference championships in the 450 Salto Toss and the Synchronized Pyramid Team. The 450 Salto Toss Team would go on to compete at the NCATA National Championships.
"I am very excited to have a proven coach like Coach Broadwater," Glenville Athletic Director Jesse Skiles said. "She was a tremendous leader here as a student-athlete on some historic teams, and she certainly made a difference for the program at Wesleyan. She is a proud Pioneer alumnus, and we are very excited to welcome her back home," Athletic Director Jesse Skiles stated when asked about the new acquisition.
