The Pioneers opened the Mountain East Conference portion of their schedule with a loss to the Mountain Lions of Concord. Glenville finished the game with more offensive yards but could not find the end-zone until the second half. Â

In the first quarter, both teams would be held scoreless, as the weather proved to be a factor. Both Glenville and Concord tried to have success in the air early on but failed to get anything going. However, a combination of rushes by
Zakee Swann and a 49-yard pass by
Jeff Miller to
Isaac Myers brought the Pioneers to Concord's 24-yard line early on. After a false start penalty, Glenville would go for it on fourth down but could not convert. Before the end of the first quarter,
Jeff Miller would complete three straight passes to give Glenville momentum heading into the second quarter.Â

The Pioneers entered the second quarter at the Concord 41-yard line but would be stopped by the Mountain Lion defense. Sophomore
Avery Book punted the ball away pinning Concord at their own six-yard line. Concord's rushing attack led by Kris Copeland and Thurlow Wilkins would find the end-zone giving the Mountain Lions the lead 7-0. Glenville's offense started the next two possessions inside of their own 10-yard line making it difficult for the Pioneers to put a drive together. Concord had a chance to increase its lead before going into halftime but the Mountain Lions missed the 43-yard field goal attempt.Â

Glenville tried to open the second half with an onside kick but Concord would recover.The Mountain Lions took advantage of the short-field, scoring on a Thurlow Wilkins 20-yard rush making it a 14-0 game. The Pioneers on their second offensive possession of the half found the end-zone. Glenville's running game set up the six-yard touchdown pass to
Zay Huff, cutting Concord's lead in half, 14-7. Â

The Mountain Lions started the fourth quarter driving the ball into Glenville territory. After the Pioneer defense held, Concord attempted a field goal, but Glenville's Shaun Sterling blocked the attempt.
Isaiah Macklin would recover the ball for Glenville at the GSU 39-yard line. With good field position, the Pioneers rode the hot streak of Running Back
Saeed Galloway to two straight first downs. However, the Pioneers fumbled the ball giving it back to Concord. The Mountain Lions would put together a long meticulous drive to score with 3:16 left in the game. Concord's quarterback Jack Mangel found Jarod Bowie in the end-zone to extend the lead to 21-7. The Pioneers had two more chances to score but could not convert. Â

Menjor Alfred led the team in rushing with 77 yards followed by
Saeed Galloway who finished with 73 yards averaging 8.3 yards per attempt.
Isaac Myers produced 71 receiving yards on three receptions.
Seth Arnold led the Pioneers in tackles with 11 followed by
Bob Jonjo with eight.
Mark Shepherd produced two pass breakups for Glenville.Â
