Women’s Soccer Hosts the University of Charleston

Glenville, W.Va. - The Lady Pioneer Soccer Teams plays host to the University of Charleston Golden Eagles tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. This will be the first of two consecutive home matches.

Charleston enters the match 2-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play with wins over Davis & Elkins and West Virginia Wesleyan. Head coach Todd Diuguid enters his 22nd season under the helm. Historically, the Golden Eagles have matched up well against the Pioneers taking the last five matches. Offensively, Sydney Cavender and Rachel Osborne lead Charleston in goals scored with two for the 2022 season. In goal for Charleston is Jordan Maynard. Maynard has started every game so far this season producing 18 saves, a shutout, and a save percentage of 72%.

Glenville is coming off a defeat to Mountain East Conference foe West Virginia State. The Pioneers as a team so far this season has averaged a shots-on-goal percentage of 50%. The Lady Pioneers are led offensively by Graylin Floyd and Merel Smets. Floyd, a freshman, has produced five shots for the Pioneers this season with two being on goal. Merel Smets has been key to applying pressure on opposing defensive lines playing the attacking midfielder role. In goal for the Pioneers, Mikayla Brown has made 18 saves on the year with a save percentage of 62%
