Lady Pioneers Sweep Bluefield State 3-0

Glenville State's Women's Volleyball team defeated the Big Blue of Bluefield State on Tuesday night in the Waco Center, 3-0. The Lady Pioneers improve their record to 8-3 and have won three straight games for the second time this season.

In the first set, Glenville started out the frame slow trailing Bluefield State 4-1. The Lady Pioneers took advantage of errors made by the Big Blue and two straight aces from Sydney Goodrich. After taking the lead 5-4, Glenville would go on to lead the rest of the match. The Pioneers built consistent five to four-point runs to pull away. Junior setter Julia King and Sydney Goodrich led the Lady Pioneers' runs.

Glenville opened the second set on a 10-3 run giving them the momentum to win the frame. Katarzyna Niderla and Nalaina Funk led the early run for Pioneers. Bluefield State halfway through the set shrunk the Lady Pioneers' lead to within four points. The Big Blue took advantage of three straight errors made by Glenville. Once again, Nalaina Funk would propel the Pioneers to take the second set 25-15

In the third and final set, both teams fought to gain the early advantage. However, neither team could create separation until after starting at a 3-3 tie. The Pioneers would go on and take the next five points of the set gaining them the lead 8-3. A kill by Katarzyna Niderla sparked Glenville to take the early lead. While the Big Blue fought to claw away at the Pioneer's lead, the early separation proved to be too much. A Kill by Freshman Nalaina Funk would put the set and match away for Glenville

Katarzyna Niderla led the Pioneers in kills with nine followed by Nalaina Funk with seven. Junior Sydney Goodrich produced four service aces for Glenville. Defensively for the Lady Pioneers, Lindsay Winkler led the team in digs with 14.
