Quincy, Ill. - The Glenville State Pioneers opened the 2022 season with a 44-15 win over the Quincy Hawks. The Pioneers have won two straight season openers.

1st Quarter

Glenville's defense would open up the game by holding Quincy to three-and-out giving the Pioneers great field position. On the first offensive play of the 2022 season, the Pioneers would score off of a 59-yard touchdown pass from Jeff Miller to Javian Bellamy. On the next offensive drive for the Hawks, Sophomore Brandon Penn would intercept Tioone Harris's pass. The Pioneers would once again take advantage of the great field position provided by the Pioneer defense. Josh Jones would hit the 29-yard field goal attempt to give Glenville a 10-0 lead. Quincy's rushing attack would take them to the GSU 38-yard line. However, the Pioneers would stay strong and force an incompletion by Tionne Harris.

2nd Quarter

The Pioneers would open the second quarter with another Josh Jones field goal giving them a 13-0 lead. Quincy's no-huddle attack would drive them down all the way to the GSU one-yard line.
