Lady Pioneers Hot Shooting From Three Helps GSU Defeat Notre Dame College 98-59

GLENVILLE, WV – Glenville State's #5 ranked Lady Pioneers ran their record to 18-2 Saturday afternoon, powering their way to a 98-52 victory over the visiting Notre Dame Falcons in the Waco Center. Glenville started fast, scoring the game's first nine points and posting a 32-18 lead after the first quarter. They never looked back from that point.
 
Coach Kim Stephens, fresh off career win #175 last Wednesday at Alderson Broaddus, coached her team to an impressive defeat of the Falcons. They extended their lead to 55-30 by halftime, and the margin ballooned to as high as 45 points late in the fourth quarter.
 
Tore Alford and Mickayla Perdue each drained five three-pointers on the day, leading a Lady Pioneer perimeter game that connected on 15-of-36 shots from beyond the arc (41.7%). Freshman Chalon Miles connected on three from long range. In total field goal percentage, GSU shot 56.5% from the floor (39-of-69). The Glenville press contributed to 24 Notre Dame turnovers which led to 43 points on the Lady Pioneer ledger.
 
Perdue led all scorers with 24 points, and was complemented by Alford's 15, and Breanna Campbell and Miles with 14 each. Campbell posted an impressive double-double as she delivered team highs with 10 assists and four steals. The junior from Largo, Florida also tied Miles for team-high honors with five rebounds. Cabria Lewis and Aline Fevrier each added eight points.
 
Noel Weathers led Notre Dame with 16 points followed by Lizzie Imrie with 14. The Falcons led in team rebounds 34-28.
 
Glenville improves to 18-2 overall, and 12-2 in the Mountain East Conference. Notre Dame falls to 5-15 overall, and 4-10 in the MEC.
 
The Lady Pioneers are back in action Wednesday night, hosting Fairmont State in the Waco Center on McPherson Court. Tip-off is set for 5:30.
