West Liberty, W.Va. - Glenville State Men's Basketball fell on the road to the Hilltoppers of West Liberty 88-73. The Pioneers Battled the Hilltoppers throughout the contest until the last five minutes of the second half. While West Liberty shot worse in the second half of the game, the Pioneers would be held to 39.4% shooting from the field in the final half.

West Liberty struck first with a layup by Christian Montague in the first minute. The Pioneers were able to get their offense going with a dunk by Jacquez Yow from Freddie Word. Before the first media timeout, the Toppers did jump out to a five-point advantage. A 5-2 run by GSU before heading into the media timeout gave Glenville their first lead of the night.

Coming out of the stoppage of play the Pioneers continued to have the lead. However, both squads' offenses kept each other in check. Neither team could build a substantial advantage during the first half. After a three-pointer by Jordan Turbo Smith Glenville trailed the rest of the contest.

While Glenville would not have the advantage in the remaining eight minutes of the half, the Pioneers kept it within striking distance. GSU was able to keep up with West Liberty's high-power offense with 50% shooting from the field and from three in the opening half. Before heading into the half the Hilltoppers managed to string a seven-point advantage. A last-second pull-up jump shot by Jaelin Johnson made it 44-39 cutting the Topper's lead down to five.

Glenville struck in the opening seconds of the second half to make it a one-possession game. The Hilltoppers quickly respond with a 6-0 run gaining a nine-point advantage. However, the Pioneers fought once more to make it a three-point game. Before the first stoppage of the second half West Liberty made a layup to bring the lead back to five.

Coming out of the under-15 media timeout Coach Caldwell's squad was able to cut down the Topper's advantage to two with a three from Jay Scott.
