The Pioneers Roll Past the Nittany Lions of Penn State Beaver 92-37

Glenville, W.Va. - Glenville State Men's Basketball team finishes the non-conference portion of their schedule with a win 92-37. The Pioneer's strong defense in the second half propelled GSU to continue growing their advantage. GSU finished the game shooting Glenville would also finish with over 50 rebounds for the third time this season.

In the opening minutes, the Pioneers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead. Harrison Eghan sparked the early run. The backcourt duo Jordan Turbo Smith and Freddie Word got going early as well. Before the first media timeout, the Nittany Lion's Chris Green got Penn State Beaver's offense going with back-to-back buckets. A layup by Trevor Chandler gave GSU the advantage 9-5 before the first stoppage. 

Coming out of the timeout the Pioneers hit a two-minute cold stretch. Six straight points by Penn State Beaver gave them their first and only lead of the night. Coach Caldwell's squad would respond and take a six-point advantage before the second media timeout. In the first ten minutes, the Nittany Lions slower pace affected the Pioneer's high-pace offense. Both teams only combined for 30 points.

GSU continued to build their lead throughout the remainder of the half. However, the Pioneers exploded in the last five minutes producing an 18-3 run. During Glenville's dominant run, Jamarvious Jones scored seven out of the 18 points. The Pioneers were also able to get out in transition during the stretch producing 11 fast break points. 

Coach Caldwell's squad continued to fire on all cylinders in the second half. Coming out of the half GSU produced another dominant run-scoring 18 of the next 22 points. Jordan Turbo Smith contributed during the run hitting two threes and a layup inside the paint. Before the under ten media timeout Glenville jumped out to a 46-point lead.

In the final ten minutes, the Pioneers continued to grow their advantage. GSU's bench shined in the remaining minutes shutting down Penn State Beaver's offense and were contributors on the offensive end as well. Glenville's bench finished the contest with 57 points. Before the final horn rang the Pioneers took a 55-point lead 92-37.

Trevor Chandler finished the game with a career-high 19 points and produced ten rebounds to finish with his first double-double of the season. Both Jamarvious Jones and Jordan Turbo Smith were close behind with 18 points. Jacquez Yow and Jay Scott had a team and game-high in assists with five.
