GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Women's Soccer will wrap up their three-game home stand this week with matchups against West Virginia State tomorrow (Oct. 18) and Davis & Elkins on Sunday (Oct. 22).

THE OPPONENTS
WEST VIRGINIA STATE
The Yellow Jackets enter (6-5-2, 5-3-2 MEC) after tying with Frostburg State on Wednesday and losing to Notre Dame College on Sunday at home. WVSU defeated the Pioneers 2-1 in Institute earlier in the year.
Brandon Slewa is in his first season as HC of the Yellow Jackets. Prior to taking over at West Virginia State, Slewa was a part of the Fairmont State WSOC coaching staff as an assistant in 2022. In his only year with the Falcons, FSU captured their first ever MEC Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. He also spent time as an assistant at Salem.
Esther Dhiramo is nearing double-digit goals this season with nine to lead WVSU. Ammy Mwasambu has added seven goals and Sandra Linares is up to five goals and four assists. Alba Closa leads the team in assists with five, just ahead of Linares. Laura Galindo is now at 48 saves and has allowed 12 goals.
DAVIS & ELKINS
The Senators come in (2-9-2, 1-7-2 MEC) and haven't won since September 27 against Salem. D&E previously tied with Fairmont State on Saturday. Earlier in the season, GSU and the Senators tied 1-1 in Elkins.
Alberto "Kiko" Magana enters his second season leading the Senators WSOC program. In his first season, Magana led D&E to a (9-8-1, 8-7-1 MEC) record. Magana came to Davis & Elkins from Highland C.C. in Kansas, leading the Scotties to a 5-5 conference record in their inaugural season. He also served as an assistant at William Jewell in Missouri.
Alexa Karsel is leading the Senators in goals with nine. Karsel also leads the team in assists with four. Gabriela Acevedo is one of four goalkeepers who have protected the net this season, leading them all with 57.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
The Pioneers enter the week (4-6-3, 2-6-2 MEC) following an 0-2 week, falling to Notre Dame College 3-0 and Wheeling 2-1.
Merel Smets is now up to 10 goals on the season to lead the Pioneers. She also has one assist. Aitana Viejo leads the team in assists with four while also adding four goals. Irene Robles and Hannah Hill have two goals each as well. Abigail Morales is now at 29 saves.
