GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Football team used a 260-yard rushing game to cruise to a 44-7 victory over Concord today at Morris Stadium. The Pioneers produced 459 yards of total offense en route to their second-straight win.
1st Quarter
The game didn't start the way the Pioneers would have liked, opening their first drive of the game with an interception that was picked off by the Concord defense on a ball that was tipped at the line. However, the Pioneer defense started the game off strong, holding the Mountain Lions to a punt. GSU shaved over six minutes off the clock on the following drive, capping it off with a one-yard Saeed Galloway touchdown.
2nd Quarter
With the ball back in their hands, the Pioneers started the new quarter with a 20-yard field goal by Brody Layman. Following a three and out by the Mountain Lions, Glenville State put together another six-plus minute drive that ended with a touchdown. Zion Barnette was able to make an acrobatic catch to net a 27-yard touchdown from Anthony Garrett.
On the following kickoff, GSU squib kicked it and CU failed to recover, giving the GSU offense the ball right back. Saaed Galloway picked up his second score on the ground from eight yards out just minutes later to extend the Pioneer lead to 23-0. Layman's extra point attempt would be blocked after the TD.
Stats At The Half
The Pioneers had already produced 169 rushing yards and 164 passing yards after the first half. The blue and white's defense held the Mountain Lions to a whopping –9 rushing yards and 18 passing yards.
3rd Quarter
GSU extended their lead to 30-0 on their first drive following Tariq Miller's 47-yard punt return that put the offense at the Concord 10-yard line to start the drive. Alfed Menjor found the endzone for the Pioneers. Concord finally found their first points of the game on their next possession as Jack Mangel connected Alvin Howard for a 12-yard touchdown.
4th Quarter
In the start of the final quarter, GSU answered that Concord score with a score of their own as Anthony Garrett found Orion Bonner for a six-yard touchdown. On Glenville's next drive, Zavione Wood capped off his big day with a seven-yard touchdown score on the ground. This would finalize Glenville's fourth win of the season at 44-7.
The Final Stats
Anthony Garrett had one of his better games of the season, throwing 21-28 for 209 yards and two touchdowns. Zavione Wood had a breakout game, carrying the ball 20 times for 155 yards and one touchdown. Saeed Galloway had two scores on the ground and Alfred Menjor recorded one rushing touchdown. Orion Bonner brought in nine passes for 67 yards and one touchdown while Zion Barnette also added a touchdown reception.
Defensively, Steve Bradshaw led the team with six tackles and 1.5 TFL's. Jamair Diaz also added 1.5 TFLs. Dane Lynch had an interception with two tackles and one TFL as well.
For Concord, Jack Mangel went 19-30 for 140 yards and one touchdown. The running game was never available as the Mountain Lions finished the game with –3 rushing yards as a team. Kris Copeland had 10 receptions for 52 yards also. Jamari Smith and Kendall Bournes tied for the team lead in tackles at nine apiece. Kevin Howard and Rodric Vaughn both had an interception.

Glenville State hits the road next week when they travel to UNC Pembroke for a matchup with the Braves at 3 p.m.
