GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Men's Basketball will be inside the Waco Center for the first time this season tomorrow (Nov. 18) as they host West Virginia State. The Pioneers split with the Yellow Jackets last year with both teams winning on the road.

The Yellow Jackets enter (1-1) after opening the 2023 campaign with a win against Winston-Salem State 74-67 on Friday and losing at the buzzer against Shaw 68-67 on Saturday.
Bryan Poore is in his 25th season as the HC at WVSU. Poore is the winningest coach in program history with a record of 376-292. Prior to his success with the Yellow Jackets, he was an assistant coach at Marshall for three seasons and the University of Charleston for five seasons. Poore was also an assistant at Alderson Broaddus for a season to start out his collegiate coaching career.
Nate Mims is the leading scorer for West Virginia State at 13.0 PPG. He is accompanied by Arthur Cox's 12.0 PPG and Anthony Pittman's 11 PPG. Pittman leads the rebounding efforts at 7.0 RPG. Bunky Brown has been active on the offensive boards, grabbing a team-leading 3.5 per game.

The Pioneers come in (0-2) following a winless weekend at the Atlantic Region Challenge in Charleston, falling to Gannon 140-108 and Salem 112-100.
Seattle U transfer Dominiq Penn is averaging 25.0 PPG to lead GSU. James Franklin (15.5 PPG), Jay Scott (13.0 PPG), Antoine Boyd Jr. (12.0 PPG) and Rye Gadd (10.5 PPG) are the other Pioneers averaging double figures. Franklin is the top rebounder on the team, pulling down 6.5 RPG. As a team, the Pioneers are scoring 104 PPG.
