Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | GSU Sports Information

Pioneers Roll Past Malone

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team rolled past previously unbeaten (5-0) Malone 83-69 today inside the Waco Center. The Pioneers shot 44% from the field and grabbed 15 offensive rebounds in the win.

GSU took the first lead on a Remy Lemovou layup and the game would be tied just twice after that before the Pioneers began taking control. The blue and white's offense had built a nine-point lead before the under 10 media timeout. After Malone trimmed the deficit to just three, GSU went on a 20-4 run in the last six minutes of the half to go up 45-26 at the break.

In the second half, Glenville State had their biggest lead of the game (31) following a Devin Collins jumper. In the midst of building that lead, the Pioneers had scored nearly 30 points in the first 12 minutes of the new half. MU used a strong finish to salvage the 20+ point blowout, eventually falling to GSU 83-69.

The Final Stats
Remy Lemovou led the way with a double-double, recording 14 points and 11 rebounds. James Franklin and Dominiq Penn both scored 13 points, followed by Jay Scott's 11 points and Devin Collins and Rye Gadd scoring 10 points each. Scott dished out three assists and finished with a steal as well. Jordan Turbo Smith struggled from the field, finishing with just six points but added four rebounds, four steals and two assists in the victory.

Aaron Badibo and Majhe Wiley scored 16 points each to lead Malone while Carter Piatt added 13 points. Badibo had a double-double by grabbing 10 boards. Simon Blair nearly played the whole game, closing out the day with eight points, five rebounds and four assists.
