Preview: Men’s Basketball set for Midweek Non-Conference Bout with Seton Hill

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Men's Basketball will host Seton Hill tomorrow (Dec. 13) for a midweek non-conference matchup inside the Waco Center. The Pioneers last met with the old WVIAC foe in 2018, defeating the Griffins 100-93 on a neutral court in Charleston.

THE OPPONENT 
SETON HILL
 
The Griffins enter (5-2, 1-1 PSAC) after defeating Chestnut Hill College on Saturday 87-60. SHU has played four common opponents so far this year, defeating Wheeling, Salem and Davis & Elkins but falling to West Liberty. 

Ben Wilkins is in his second season leading the Seton Hill MBB program. In his first season at the helm, he won 16 games which was 13 more than the previous season and finished .500 in the PSAC West, leading Seton Hill to their first PSAC Tournament appearance in three years. Wilkins previously spent six seasons as an assistant at Army West Point with one of those seasons being the Associate Head Coach. Wilkins also had Division I stops as an assistant at Mount St. Mary's, William & Mary and North Carolina State. 

Ryan Meis is the only Griffin averaging double figures at 16.1 PPG. Caleb Whitaker is almost in double figures, putting up 9.9 PPG. Gabe Gillespie leads the team in rebounding at 5.9 RPG while also averaging 9.0 PPG.  

THE PIONEERS 
GLENVILLE STATE 

The Pioneers come in (5-4, 3-2 MEC) following a road win at Frostburg State on Saturday. GSU had been on a three-game winning streak entering last week before Fairmont State defeated the Pioneers on Wednesday. 

Following multiple 20+ point performances, Dominiq Penn has upped his average to 16.2 PPG to lead Glenville State. Devin Collins is shooting 46% from three and averaging 13.2 PPG while also grabbing 4.9 RPG. Jordan Turbo Smith (13.1 PPG) and Jay Scott (10.4 PPG) are averaging double figures as well with Smith leading the team in assists at 3.7 APG.
