Lady Pioneers Extend Their Winning Streak Defeating Frostburg State 90-74.

Frostburg, W.Va. - Glenville State Women's Basketball Team defeated the Bobcats of Frostburg State 90-74. The Lady Pioneers finished the contest shooting 31.7% from the field but made a total of 13 threes throughout the game. With GSU forcing 24 turnovers and scoring 29 points off of them, they were able to pull away despite being out-rebounded. 

Glenville State struggled early on missing their first five attempts from the field. At first, the Bobcat's offense struggled as well until the 8:38 mark. Rhiana Hall hit a three producing the contest's first points.  While Breanna Campbell got the Lady Pioneers going, a three from beyond the arc by Mickayla Perdue tied it up 5-5. Perdue's three-pointer sparked a 10-3 run by GSU giving them a seven-point advantage before the first media timeout. 

Coming out of the under-five media timeout the Bobcat's Emilee Weakley got to the free-throw line sinking both attempts. However, Glenville State was able to remain in control during the first quarter. With the Lady Pioneers scoring 12 out of the last 16 points of the quarter Coach Stephens's squad was able to build a double-digit lead.

At the beginning of the second quarter, the Lady Pioneers' hot shooting from beyond the arc continued. Frostburg multiple times throughout the quarter were almost able to shrink GSU's advantage down to single digits. Another dominant stretch of play by The Lady Pioneers gave Glenville their largest lead of the first two quarters 40-21. While Glenville State could not hold on to the 19-point advantage, they would enter the half-up 17.

In the third quarter, GSU would only hit one three shooting 8.3% from deep. While Glenville State struggled from deep they were able to hold Frostburg State to just four field goals. With Glenville producing a 14-4 spanning over five minutes the Lady Pioneers took their largest lead of the contest 67-39. While the Bobcats could not score for the majority of the third quarter they were able to end the quarter with seven consecutive points.

During the final quarter of play, Glenville State consistently held on to a 20-point lead. Once again the Bobcats were able to produce another run of their own shrinking the Lady Pioneers' advantage down to 16. Both squads traded blows in the final minute of the contest. With Frostburg striking, last GSU held on to their 16-point advantage.

Breanna Campbell finished the game with a team-high 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Junior Guard Mickayla Perdue would be close behind with 20 points. Perdue finished the contest with five threes on 50% shooting.
