GSU Men’s Golf Finish Fourth at MEC Spring Classic

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Glenville State Men's Golf team wrapped up the MEC Spring Classic at Edgewood Country Club. Heading into the final day the Pioneers were one stroke back of first place.  With times like Davis and Elkins improving from their day one scores, GSU ended day two in second. 

However, three Pioneers would finish inside the top 20. Freshman Juan Monckeberg was the team medalist with a score of 143. Monckeberg was lights out both days finishing the tournament fifth and earning conference recognition. Juan was named the Mountain East Conference Freshman of the Year as well as receiving All-MEC First Team honors. Thee more Pioneers would receive All-Conference Honors. Shaydon Johnson, Mathias Nunez, and Bumin Choi were all MEC-Honorable Mentions.

Bumin Choi and Mathias Nunez finished the MEC Spring Classic tied for 18th with a 151. Choi had solid two days shooting a 74 and a 77. Nunez produced a stellar first day for Glenville. The Hernandarias, Paraguay native shot even par during his first 18 holes.

Tanner Vickers closed out the Pioneer's scorecard shooting a 153 placing 28th out of the 65-man field. After posting a 78 on day one, Vickers closed the tournament on a high note cutting three strokes.  

Glenville State Men's Golf will be back in action this Sunday at West Liberty University.
