Pioneer Track and Field Have Solid Showing at Bethany Mini Meet

BETHANY, W.Va. - Glenville State University Track and Field entering their final week before the conference championship had a suburb showing at the Bethany Mini Meet. The Pioneer men out of a field of six teams placed third. Coach Dan Meyers's women finished fifth ahead of Mountain East Conference foe Wheeling University.

Men's Highlights

Sophomore Isaiah Valentine won the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.62. In the 400-meter hurdles, the Pioneers picked up their second win of the afternoon. Running a time of 57.62 Haden Coon finished first earning nine points for GSU. 

Glenville continued to have success in field events. Freshman Jordan Holmes in his second collegiate meet had a solid showing in the long jump. With a jump of 6.42 meters, Holmes placed second out of the ten-man field. Otis Cox was close behind finishing third and securing another top-five finish for GSU. 

Women's Highlights

With a limited squad sent to the Bethany Mini Meet, Glenville women's won two events out of the five they competed in. Angela Ejimofor with a time of 12.73 placed first in the 100-meter dash while defeating three conference opponents. Koschinya Jefferson had a solid performance in the long jump. Jefferson with a jump of 5.20 meters placed first. Koschinya also had a good showing in the high jump finishing in second.
