Scott & Barr Win MEC Titles as Women Finish 5th, Men 7th at MEC Indoor T&F Championships

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Glenville State Track & Field teams closed the book on the indoor season Sunday (Feb. 22) at the MEC Indoor T&F Championships in Huntington as Janae Scott and Natalie Barr both won individual titles. The GSU women placed 5th as a team while the men were 7th and six Pioneers earned All-Conference honors.

NEW SCHOOL RECORDS
Rory Taylor Young improved his 400m school record with a time of 49.38
Patrick Reilly set a school record for the indoor 5000m with a time of 15:06
Natalie Barr improved her school record in the 5000m with a time of 17:16
Taylor-Young, Smith, Strader, and Livengood set a school record in the men's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:21
Hill, Torres, Dixon, and Payne set a school record in the women's 4x400 relay with a time of 4:06
Janae Scott set a new school record in the shot put with a mark of 14.86

ALL CONFERENCE
Janae Scott threw the meet record and finished 1st overall in the women's shot put with her mark of 14.86m
Casey Mahoney threw 14.89m in the shot put to finish 2nd overall
Natalie Barr finished 1st in the 5000m (17:16) while also finishing 2nd in the mile (4:59), and 2nd in the 3000m run (10:07)
Nick Pitchord had a strong 3rd place finish in the mile with a time of 4:14
Braden Hashman finished 3rd overall in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.18
Taylor-Young, Smith, Strader, and Livengood finished 2nd overall in the men's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:21

NEW PERSONAL BESTS
Addy Cottrill placed 4th in the weight throw with a new personal best of 15.99m and is also 3rd all-time in shot put with a mark of 12.62m
Chase Livengood is now 4th all-time in the long jump with a mark of 6.82m
Ian Strader raced 50.72 in the 400m dash, putting him as 5th all-time
Hannah Hill improved her 2nd all-time in the 400m dash with a time of 59.40
Zac Hall had a pair of personal bests in the 60m dash (6.94) and in the 200m dash (22.31), which put him as 2nd all-time for both of these events
Macy Hilvers threw a huge personal best in the weight throw with a mark of 15.37m, which puts her as 4th all-time
Janae Scott is now 3rd all-time in weight throw with a mark of 15.50m
Caden Davis is now 2nd all-time in the mile with a time of 4:25
In the heptathlon, Mikey Galaviz set personal bests in the 60m dash (7.96), 60m hurdles (11.32), 1000m (3:11), high jump (1.50m), pole vault (3.27m), and shot put (9.07m)
Kyle McMillion competed in the heptathlon and set personal bests in 60m (7.54), 60m hurdles (10.36), 1000m (3.11), and pole vault (2.57m)

Up Next For The Pioneers
The Pioneers will take a little under a month off to train and regroup before competing at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, N.C. on March 20th and 21st to start the outdoor season.
