CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's and Women's Golf teams finished day 1 of the UC Fall Invitational inside the top 4. The men sit in 4th at 577 while the women are in 3rd with 302. 

The Men 
After 36 holes of play, Charleston leads the field at 563 while West Liberty (574), West Virginia Wesleyan (574) and the Pioneers finish out the top four. 

Being in fourth after day one at 577, the Pioneer men are led by Benjamin Fernandez with a 136 (71-65). Teammates Shaydon Johnson (74-76 – 150), Lorenzo Van Niekerk (75-75 – 150), Bumin Choi (75-75 – 150) and Juan Monckeberg (70-73 – 153) closed out the first day strong to put the Pioneers in a good spot heading into Tuesday. 

The Women 
Ashland leads the women's side at 299 with Gannon being in second at 300, GSU in third with a school record 302 and Mt. Olive sitting in fourth to round out the top four. 

Hailey Hendershott is shooting a school record three under par (68) after the first round of play. Teammate Lexis Fickel fired a 77 after the first day followed by Lizzie Bickar's 78, Kendall Wall's 79 and Mackenzie Czapla's 84.  

Both squads will wrap up the UC Fall Invite tomorrow evening.
