BUCKHANNON, W.Va. - The Glenville State Volleyball team have picked up their second-straight clean sweep with tonight's 3-0 victory at West Virginia Wesleyan. The Pioneers produced 11 blocks and nine service aces in the victory.
In the opening set, GSU took a comfortable 7-2 lead with six-straight points. The Bobcats trailed by as much as seven, however they cut the deficit to just three on multiple occasions but couldn't get any closer to the Pioneers. Four-consecutive points by GSU closed out the set, winning 25-17.
Glenville State came out hot again in the second set, jumping out to an early 6-1 lead. The Pioneers were consistent with a three or more point lead until WVWC made it a two-point game at 18-16. GSU finished the set out strong, outscoring the 'Cats 7-3 down the stretch and taking set two 25-19.
With WV Wesleyan scoring the first three points of the third set, the Pioneers had to play partially from behind for the first time. The squads traded the lead a few times until Glenville State took it back and never gave it back up. The remainder of the set saw kills from left and right by the Pioneer offense, completing the clean 3-0 sweep of the Bobcats with a 25-19 third set win.
The Final Stats
Rita Kelly and Katarzyna Niderla tied for the team lead in kills with eight. Sydney Goodrich added six kills and six digs as well. Sarah Grainger had 26 assists, eight digs and four kills in the win.
For WVWC, Bhrooke Axe and Olivia Albrecht were also tied for the team lead in kills with eight. Sophie Gerlach had 31 assists and double-digit digs with 11.

The Pioneers will travel up to Penn State Fayette tomorrow afternoon for a non-conference matchup at 1 p.m.
