Hilltoppers Connect on 20 Three-Pointers, Down Pioneers

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team fell the nation's 20th ranked team tonight on the road as West Liberty connected on 20 three-pointers to down the Pioneers 114-78. GSU was forced into 31 turnovers and shot just 32% from three in the loss. 

Glenville started out the game shooting the ball well, holding onto a small 11-7 lead after just three minutes of play. WLU quickly turned the tables by the under 10 minute media timeout, leading the Pioneers 28-19. The Hilltoppers were able to increase their advantage with a barrage of three-pointers and turnovers by GSU, scoring 59 points in the opening half and leading 59-40. 

The Pioneers could only get the deficit down to 15 points in the second half before West Liberty pulled away heavily. By the under five miniute media TO, the Hilltoppers had already grown their lead to 30. WLU then cruised to victory, closing out the Pioneers 114-78. 

The Final Stats 
Jordan Turbo Smith led all scorers with 24 points while adding seven assists and six rebounds. Devin Collins added 15 points and eight rebounds with the Pioneers leading scorer (season average) Dominiq Penn being held to just seven points on 3-9 shooting.  

West Liberty was led by Christian Montague's 23 points in just 20 minutes of action. Five other Hilltoppers were in double figures. Wheeling transfer John Korte led the rebounding efforts with seven rebounds while adding nine points in the win.  

Up Next For The Pioneers 
The Pioneers are back on the road on Wednesday night, traveling to Institute to take on West Virginia State at 7:30 p.m.
