INSTITUTE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team fell on the road tonight at West Virginia State 113-89. The Pioneers once again ran into a hot shooting team as WVSU shot 52% from the field and knocked down 18 three-pointers.
Prince Mosengo got the Pioneers going with a layup to open the game. Both offenses got hot, combining for 42 points by the first media timeout of the game at the 13:32 mark. WVSU grew their advantage to 15 but the Pioneers cut the deficit down to eight (36-28) with eight minutes left in the half. A near three-minute scoring drought by both squads halted the high-scoring first half until WVSU gained their 15-point lead back. The Pioneers were looking to go into the locker room down by 11, however Nate Mims connected on a three-pointer, allowing WVSU to go up 52-38 at half.
In the second half, WVSU quickly pulled away and put the game out of reach. A 19-6 run before the first media timeout of the new half propelled the Yellow Jackets to a comfortable 71-44 lead. From there, WVSU continued to knock down shots and would eventually finish out the 113-89 victory over the Pioneers.
