THE OPPONENTS
DAVIS & ELKINS
The Senators enter (8-4, 4-1 MEC) after dropping their last game at Slippery Rock yesterday. Prior to the defeat, D&E had won three games in a row.
Daniel Mondragon is in his fifth season at the helm of the Senators MBB program. After a disappointing 2021-22 season, Mondragon led the Senators to an historic 2022-23 season, gathering 19 wins which marked the most in a single season in program history. He came to D&E after four seasons as the HC for the DME Sports Academy in Florida while also serving as the Director of Player Development.
Sam Rolle IV is leading the Senators in scoring this season, scoring 17.1 PPG while passing out a team leading 6.0 APG. Tristan Starks (12.5 PPG) and Vadim Clanet (12.0 PPG) are averaging double figures as well with both grabbing over four rebounds a game too. Clarens Pierre leads the team in rebounding with 6.7 RPG, adding 9.0 PPG also.
WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN
The Bobcats are (1-11, 0-5 MEC) coming into the new week and have lost 11 in a row after opening the year with a victory over Edinboro at the Joe Retton Classic. WVWC faces Concord on Wednesday before meeting up with the Pioneers on Saturday.
Derek Sloan is in his third season as HC of the Bobcats. Under Sloan, WVWC has only amassed five wins in his two-plus seasons. He was previously an assistant at WVWC for two seasons before having the interim tag being placed and taken off during the summer of 2021. Sloan was also an assistant at Culver Military Academy and played collegiately at Cleveland State.
Transfers Deiker Padrino (16.1 PPG) and Alex Mirhosseini (14.7 PPG) lead the Bobcats in scoring while Mirhosseini also leads the team in assists (3.5 APG). Maxwell Harris has been a nice addition as well, averaging 8.5 PPG and a team leading 6.5 RPG.
