GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Football team suffered a 41-9 defeat to 24
th ranked Frostburg State today at Homecoming. The Pioneers were held to just 215 total yards of offense while the Bobcats produced 389.
1st Quarter
It was a defensive battle early on, highlighted by a
Jaiden McLendon Parker interception after
Zander Watson pinned the Frostburg State offense inside the one. However, the Pioneers coughed the ball up and gave it right back to the Bobcats, eventually leading to a 65-yard touchdown for FSU. On Glenville's following possession, another fumble shortened the drive and once again led to a Bobcat touchdown, making it 14-0.
2nd Quarter
The Pioneers took off over seven minutes of the clock in their next drive, ending it with a 24-yard field goal from
Brody Layman. The GSU defense produced a stop and the offense was able to start their drive at the FSU 49, but a strong stand by Frostburg's defense gave the ball right back to the Bobcats. Neither team could put together anymore offense, keeping the score at 14-3 heading into the locker room.
3rd Quarter
Out of the break, it looked as if the Pioneers stopped Frostburg State's offense but a fake punt allowed FSU to continue the drive. On 3
rd down, the Bobcats extended their lead with a nine-yard touchdown pass. A three and out by the Pioneers set up another scoring drive for the Bobcats, reaching the endzone on a seven-yard run, making it 27-3. Before the end of the quarter,
Anthony Garrett found
Naseem Pacheco from eight yards out, followed up by the Pioneers failing on the 2-point conversion as the score sat at 27-9.
4th Quarter
Frostburg State opened the final quarter with a 59-yard touchdown run down the sideline and then found the endzone once again just two minutes later on a five-yard touchdown pass. The Bobcats would close out the victory, 41-9.
