GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team defeated Penn State Fayette, 103-74, tonight in the Waco Center to increase their record to (3-1, 1-0 MEC). Glenville's unselfish play and dominating work on the board helped them to pick up the win over the Nittany Lions in GSU's home opener
In the first half, Glenville's lead grew fast from the start as the Pioneers would outscore PSU Fayette 33-11 through the first 10 minutes of the game. The Pioneers lead grew to 27 points with about a minute left in the half but the Nittany Lions had a 6-1 run to decrease their deficit to 22 points at the half, 53-31.
As the second half picked up, the Pioneers kept fighting on the boards, continuing to grab offensive rebound after offensive rebound. This gave GSU plenty of second chance opportunities to increase their lead to as much as 38 points with just five minutes left in the game. The large advantage allowed Glenville State to pull their starters, giving them some much needed rest and clearing the bench for the final minutes of the contest. The Pioneers finished the game strong and beat the Nittany Lions, 103-74.
