BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Glenville State defensive back
Jaiden McLendon Parker has been voted Mountain East Conference Defensive Freshman of the Year, the league announced today.
Parker, a 6-1, 182-pound product out of Dumfries, Va., played a crucial role in the secondary for the Pioneers this season. The freshman was tied for 2
nd in the league and tied for 25
th in the nation in interceptions with four. He also ranked fourth in INTs of all freshman in Division II. He added 14 total tackles (12 solo), two pass breakups, one TFL and one forced fumble to his season totals.
Parker is the first Pioneer to win MEC Defensive Freshman of the Year since 2017, when Cory Roberts won the award.
