GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Women's Soccer team lost their last game of the year against Concord, 5-0, as their hopes to make the conference tournament comes to an end. The Pioneers end their season with a record of (7-9-2, 4-9-2 MEC).
1st Half
In the first half, the Pioneers hoped to keep their small chance at the playoffs alive in a must win game. The game didn't start off the way the Pioneers would have liked with the Mountain Lions scoring the first goal of the game at the 27- minute mark, thanks to a goal from Marika Svensson. The Pioneers tried to answer back with three chances to score, but they couldn't manage to find the back of the net. However, Concord managed to find the back of the net one last time in the first half, courtesy of a goal from Ailsa Swinburne.
2nd Half
The Pioneers came out aggressive in the second half and managed to get seven shots and three shots on goal. With all those shots, the Pioneers couldn't manage to send any into the back net and the Mountain Lions offense overwhelmed the Pioneers defense and added three more goals to their lead giving them the win over the Pioneers, 5-0.
Final Stats
Concord
Marika Svensson and Ailsa Swinburne led the Mountain Lions in goals scored with two goals apiece. Leah Fleming had the only assist for the Mountain Lions, while she also led the team in shots with four and shots on goal with three. Maddie Loughborough managed to accumulate three saves in today's game for the Mountain Lions.
Glenville State
Three different Pioneers led the team in shots with two shots each. Three different Pioneers also led the team in shots on goal with one shot on goal each. Lucia Lopez earned seven saves in the loss.
